Chris Ewbank, long time SOFAA stalwart and former Chairman has announced that Ewbank Auctioneers have merged with the Fine Art and Antiques Division of local Guildford firm, Clarke Gammon Weller.
The new business will be called Ewbank Clarke Gammon Weller and will operate from the existing Ewbank sale room on the A3 at Send, just south of junction 10 of the M25.
The merger will lead to bigger twice monthly sales, the first on April 8th. THere will also be four Fine Art sales a year.

Following the consultation period, the U.K. Government has announced that it will maintain its existing derogation for deceased artists for a further two years after its current expiry on 1st. January 2010.

Entries are invited for the 2009 Christopher Weston Bursary.
An award of £1,000 will be made for the best industry related essay by a junior member of staff of a SOFAA Member company.
A junior member of staff is defined as someone with less than eight years industry experience. The maximum length is 5,000 words. Entries will be judged by the Committee at their June Meeting, and should be submitted, by e-mail, to the Secretary by the end of May.
The winner will be invited to the October AGM to be presented with the award. It will be at the sole discretion of the Committee if any award is made and to whom.

The 2008 Annual General Meeting was hosted by Mallams of Oxford on 6th. October, during which Christopher Weston presented a cheque for £1,000 to the winner of his Bursary for 2008, Claire Durham of Woolley & Wallis. The Meeting was followed by a visit to Ditchley Park.
